Hi, I'm Ruth, the founder of RunHERS.​

 

At 53 years old (i'm now 55), I found myself facing a problem that I knew countless other women must also be experiencing. I loved running and staying active, but when the warmer months arrived, I struggled to find something I actually wanted to wear.

 

At 5'9", middle aged, wearing glasses, suffering from asthma and seasonal allergies, I found it hard to find shorts that covered my upper legs, with enough pocket space for glasses, inhalers, tissues, phone, car key, gels, etc. ​Everywhere I looked, women seemed to be confidently running in short shorts, embracing the sunshine and looking effortlessly cool.

 

Meanwhile, I felt there was nothing available that suited my age, my preferences, my needs or my confidence levels. The only option that made me feel comfortable was to wear leggings, bum bags, jackets with a pocket, etc even on the hottest days, simply because I couldn't find shorts that offered the coverage and storage I wanted.​

 

Most women's running shorts seemed to be designed with tradition or with a limited idea of what the broader female runner wanted. They were often too short for my personal preference, lacked practicality, and left me feeling self-conscious rather than ready to embrace the summer miles. Instead of enjoying the freedom of running in summer, I found myself wishing there was another option.​

 

I knew I couldn't be the only woman who felt this way.​

 

So, rather than accepting that the market wasn't designed for women like me, I decided to create the solution myself.​

 

RunHERS was born from the belief that women deserve choice. We deserve clothing that gives us confidence, comfort, practicality and freedom without compromising on style or performance.​

 

Every detail has been thoughtfully considered – from the longer leg length that helps prevent chafing, to secure storage for essentials and innovative features designed around the real needs of women.​

 

This hasn't been the work of a big design team or a corporate brand. I've built RunHERS from the ground up myself, driven by a passion to create something I genuinely needed and believed other women would too.​

 

My hope is simple: that every woman who wears RunHERS shorts feels able to step outside, feel part of the running community and enjoy the freedom of wearing shorts if she chooses, regardless of her age or confidence level.​  Because every woman deserves the choice to feel comfortable, cool and included.​

 

That's why I created RunHERS.

I feel that a longer length creates a more elegant and flattering silhouette, while offering the comfort and confidence I couldn’t find elsewhere.
